Description

Abstract

This paper explores how the widespread use of pornography came to be. It starts with exploring how our bodies influence our genders and that our genders shape our sexuality and finally how we interact with the opposite sex. The paper investigates how expectations for a certain gender can have a direct influence on our relationships with the opposite sex. It stresses that to have a healthy relationship is to have a healthy understanding of sex by gaining information about our body, gender, and sexuality from reliable sources. The investigation touches upon the reasons why individuals cannot obtain reliable information, perhaps because trusted sources were not available during primary or secondary socialization or lack of time to devote to face-to-face relationships in adult life. Finally the paper also introduces a personal reflection sharing why the author feels her relationship has developed into a healthy one and how she deals with the modern influences on her relationship.
